Projects — Educational/Institutional — University - Thane
The university campus was designed in accordance with Swadhyaya, it provides a suitable environment for study and interaction with other students. The master plan creates a place for spiritual retreat for students. The scheme will focus on existing in harmony with the natural surroundings. The layout, formation and materiality of the project will be influenced and will respect terrain and natural elements of the site.
The master plan is divided into three primary zones: Representative, Educational and Residential. Each zone provides variety of spaces which support study process. The main ‘streets’ provides a spine to the campus that unifies all three zones and gives clarity to the master plan structure. Master plan ensures easy connections of key functions with minimal distances.
The design of buildings creates natural shading within the campus. The externalized circulation will encourage the students to be outdoors. Pergolas shade the otherwise exposed walkways. The plan of the museum building determines the exact direction of exhibition. The building creates a shell for exhibitions wherein the light is brought inside purposely, acting as “play with light”. Reduced dependence on external sources of energy and water, use of clean power resources and natural food resources are other salient features of this sustainable development. Photo-voltaic cells situated on the roof will reduce the electrical demand. Cross ventilation provides a pleasant indoor environment.
